Only in America do they call the winning team “The World Champions” when only teams inside of America compete in that contest in that sport.
What the fuck is wrong with you?

TUMBLR YOU HAVE FAILED ME
I usually come home and find my dashboard overwhelmed by your posts. Not today. I feel betrayed.
In other news, my work exp. colleague returned today, after being stranded in some far flung region due to a cancelled flight. It was a sad day. On the upside, it is possible that my supervisor is just as even more irritated by him than I am.
Highlights of today:
the receptionist pulling up one of...

So let’s get something straight.
Just because stakeholder 1 doesn’t appreciate our protagonist’s actions, doesn’t mean that stakeholder 2 feels the same. No one’s information perfect. Protagonist, stakeholder 1 and stakeholder 2 would all be incorrect in believing they know the absolute quality of the protagonist’s actions. Whether that be good, bad, selfish or...

Is it even possible to have “no interests”?

USC medical school professor Dr. Ken Murray has an interesting article titled ‘How Doctors Die’ outlining the difference between how most people die and how doctors die. As he says, “It’s not like the rest of us, but it should be.”
We as physicians are deeply familiar with how…
Keeping this for later
Mother’s talk prevents me doing my transposition dailies. Definitely waking up to practice at 8am to make up for tonight. And then going for a swim at ten, if there’s no lightning. And then practising again after the swim, expect 4 hours. Then going to see a kangaroo for Jay’s birthday party. Then going to opera in the domain with SYO folks. May or may not mail insurance claim,...

Symphony in the Domain. Awesome afternoon and night out with the SYO crew, and a some NSGs too. There was Emily Sun playing Bruch’s violin concerto in G minor. One of the section violins, visible on the jumbotron, kept looking up and smiling as this young soloist played :)
It also produced the quote of the year. You need to be a horn player to get it though.

Australia day corporate lunch rehearsal. First time I’ve been in something this big with such a big setup, excluding drum corps. The lights are cool. The gig is tomorrow.

internship
I recently began my internship at a local hospital. Since this blog is about things I find interesting, I’d like to share some things from this experience.
Life in the biomedical engineering department is nice. It’s safe, so long as you stand back from the defibrillators and electrical surgical units, and the people are nice.

Hiding from facebook birthday messages. It does work like that, right?
In other news, my work experience colleague has reached new heights of irritatingness. Never have I wanted to kick a person even one hundredth of the number of times I wanted to kick him in one day. I actually visualised using a hospital bed to prop myself with both arms and deliver a two-footed kick to his face. That felt...

Day 1, work experience
Today I started work experience in a hospital. Which basically meant the first 5 hours were spent doing induction related activities, with the last few hours spent receiving goods. Luckily, the guys in the BME department are good fun.
There are some things you only notice in retrospect. Today it was “Oh.. there are no girls in here. At. All. Wait… is that right?” I’ll give...
